Delhi Cancels Holidays on Birth, Death Anniversaries

New Delhi: Following in the footsteps of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the AAP government in the capital has decided to cancel leaves on the birth and death anniversaries of eminent personalities.

In a series of tweets, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said:”The Delhi government will also cancel leaves on the birth and death anniversaries of eminent personalities. I have directed the chief secretary regarding this.”

Praising the UP government which cancelled 15 public Holidays, Sisodia said:”It has taken a good initiative… We should always be ready to learn from other states.”

There are 18 gazetted holidays of which four are birth anniversaries of eminent persons. There are 34 restricted holidays but officials can avail only two.
